NVCI’s Holiday Giving to The Shade Tree

Recently, Nevada Cancer Institute employees dug deep to share some holiday cheer with The Shade Tree Shelter. This holiday season, the Institute gave back to the community by selecting The Shade Tree, a shelter for homeless and abused women and children, to support. Besides holiday gifts and toys, this year there was a focus on the teen population, who are often overlooked for younger children.
Employees were asked to contribute new items, unwrapped or in a gift bag, and drop them in collection boxes at the flagship facility and Charleston office. There was a real need for children’s socks and basic necessities this year, plus a “wish list” of items needed at the shelter was circulated throughout NVCI. Beyond gifts, this “wish list” included office, cleaning and Shelter supplies, with some pet necessities for The Shade Tree’s Noah’s House.
By pickup on Wednesday, December 17, a sizeable amount of items had been donated, including gift cards, which were transported to The Shade Tree for distribution to those who would really enjoy the anonymous gifts and know that they were not forgotten.
Here’s hoping everyone at The Shade Tree had a great holiday season!
