Las Vegas – Feb. 2, 2010 – The Las Vegas Wranglers® hockey team have announced that Sunday, Feb. 28, will be designated as Nevada Cancer Institute Day when the Wranglers face the Stockton Thunder at 2:05 pm in the Orleans Arena at The Orleans Hotel & Casino.
Nevada Cancer Institute (NVCI) will have a significant presence the day of that game as NVCI lip balm with sunscreen is distributed to the first 200 fans at the entrance. NVCI’s Director and CEO John C. Ruckdeschel, M.D., who also holds the Murren Family Distinguished Director’s Chair, will drop the ceremonial first puck prior to the game.
To celebrate the work that NVCI does in the fields of cancer treatment, research and education, the Las Vegas Wranglers have established a special fundraising ticket price for all NVCI employees and supporters.
To show support for NVCI, visit the Wranglers’ website at www.LasVegasWranglers.com/merchandise/themenights and login with the user name NVCI and password StopCancer. This will enable NVCI supporters in the community to enjoy the same special ticket price and know that a portion of it will be donated to the Institute.
“As Nevada Cancer Institute works towards achieving National Cancer Institute designation, it is important that community partners like the Las Vegas Wranglers step forward and show their support,” Dr. Ruckdeschel said. “Together we are a stronger force in the fight against cancer.”
