Phillip J. Manno, M.D., FACP

Phillip J. Manno, M.D., FACP, is the chief of Clinical Oncology and Hematology Services. He has been treating cancer patients in Las Vegas since 1992, and his medical interests include breast cancer neuro-oncology (brain) and liver. Dr. Manno also has a particular interest in autonomic nervous system dysfunction as it relates to side effects of chemotherapy and in the elderly He is also developing a program in geriatric oncology which will further his research interests in an aging population. Dr. Manno also serves on a number of committees at NVCI including chairman of the Protocol Review Committee and the Senior Leadership Committee.

At area hospitals, Dr. Manno was chair of the Cancer Committee, chief of Oncology and director of the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit where he was the first physician to complete a bone marrow transplant in Las Vegas. At Summerlin Hospital Medical Center, he served as chief of Staff,chief of Medicine and director of the Cancer Center.
He continues to serve on the Summerlin Hospital Medical Center Board of Trustees. Dr. Manno also completed a fellowship in Medical Oncology at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Michigan, and a fellowship in Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation at the University of Nebraska. Dr. Manno has been recognized as the “Best Medical Oncologist” by the Las Vegas Life magazine, as well as “Best Fellow in Bone Marrow Transplantation” at the University of Nebraska. He has also taught at UNLV in the Department of Biological Sciences in both immunology and cell/molecular biology.He has also taught at the UNLV Dental School for 3 years in oral cancer.

He is a member of a number of community and professional organizations including the Clark County Medical Society, Nevada State Medical Society, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Cancer Society, American Association for Cancer Research and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Dr. Manno’s personal interests include complexity theory, networking and cellular automata in mathematical modeling in systems of nature, and he has a membership in the American Mathematical Society and the Mathematical Association of America. He is also pursuing a degree in pure mathematics.
Dr. Manno was honored by being named one of the "top doctors" in Las Vegas in the June 2007 issue of Las Vegas Life magazine, which annually compiles a list of the best physicians practicing locally, based on reader surveys.
